Mortar Board Endowment Sophomore/Transfer Scholarship

Mortar Board seeks to enhance the ideals of Scholarship, Leadership, and Service on college campuses throughout the United States. The Texas Tech Forum Chapter, established in 1927, believes strongly in the Society’s ideals and desires to support students who exemplify Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and other noble traits. For these reasons, the Texas Tech Mortar Board Endowment Scholarship was created to recognize the achievements and endeavors of second year, first year transfer or nontraditional students. Recipients of this award will be recognized and presented an award certificate at the Mortar Board Initiation ceremony in the spring.

Top Ten First-Year Students Award

The honor of Top Ten First-Year was created in Fall 2014 when Mortar Board decided that we wanted to find a way to recognize even the youngest students on Texas Tech's campus. The Top Ten First-Years will be standout students in whom Mortar Board sees promising potential for future goals and contributions to Texas Tech University and the Lubbock Community. Recipients of this award will be recognized and presented an award certificate at the Mortar Board Initiation ceremony in the spring.

Mortar Board Memorial Scholarship

The Mortar Board Memorial Scholarship was created in Spring 2022. This scholarship honors previous Mortar Board members within the Forum Chapter who have lost their lives to suicide. This scholarship allows us to bring awareness to mental health as even our brightest, most generous, and successful members need to feel known, loved, encouraged, and able to ask for help. This award is open to current Forum Chapter members.

Chapter Senior Scholarship

The Mortar Board Senior Scholarship was created to assist exceptional seniors with their college expenses. The award is given to one outstanding student each year who not only exemplifies the ideals of Scholarship, Leadership, and Service but also demonstrates financial need. This scholarship is reserved for members of Mortar Board. This application is currently closed.
